Susan graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology. She received her Registered Veterinary Technician License in 1991 and has worked at several specialty hospitals throughout the San Francisco Bay Area during her career.

Susan applied to the AVTAA (Academy of Veterinary Technician in Anesthesia and Analgesia) in December 2008. She passed credentialing in March 2009 and her examination in October 2009.  She was chairman of the AVTAA exam committee from 2011-2016. She was a consultant for Zoetis Animal Health and Patterson Veterinary from 2009 – 2016.

Susan has spoken locally, statewide, nationally (CVC Kansas City, KS and WVC Las Vegas, NV) and internationally (BSAVA in Birmingham UK) on various anesthetic topics.

Susan loves to teach and mentor other technicians in anesthesia and pain management.  She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and their dog “Chase” and 2 cats – “Scout” and “Lizzie”.
