My name is Madison Tatum, and I'm from Belton, Texas. I am a member of the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2029 with a growing interest in veterinary dentistry.

I recently had the opportunity to spend a week shadowing at VDS Austin, where I participated in consultations, learned how to perform thorough oral examinations, and observed a variety of procedures, including tooth extractions, root canal therapy, crown placement, and treatment of periodontal disease.

What made the experience truly special was the people. Dr. Hernandez, Dr. Sirmons, technicians Cheyenne and Mariah, and client care specialist Brooke were all incredibly welcoming, patient, and eager to teach. They made me feel like part of the team and created an environment where learning was encouraged every day.

I'm so grateful to everyone at VDS Austin for their mentorship and generosity. This experience strengthened my interest in veterinary dentistry, and I hope to have the opportunity to return in the future!
